When you need your users to contribute..
 

How do you do it?

We desperatly need to go on a dedicated server and some users have already offered to help out financially since they know that I really can't afford it. (I never expected the board to grow like this.)

Do you have some sort of system for this?

What do I need to look out for?

You know sometimes I find vBulletin to be like Teen Pregenicey (sp?) you never mean for it to happen but it does.

As for you question you could use paypal which seems to be the on of choice. Since you are tight on funds I would use this one but you could also use 2checkout which seems to be a the latest trends.

As for what you should look out for I don't know sorry.

The users on my board are already having a *cough* debate about that.

I'm currently working on the same situation, and am making a hack specifically for that. It adds some functionality for the end users as well (kinda like incentives if you will) to contribute, like toys and stuff for their postbit, recognition for the contribution, etc. I'm hoping it works for me, but it may help you as well when I finish it up.

At my forum some users are having great problems with accepting that the ones who pay get extra "stuff". They don't want it to be obvious who's "rich" and who's "poor".
