auto detecting image template request

I am looking for some code which is template based for thumbnails that will automatically generate the full size image. I dont want to create an indiviual template for each and every thumbnail? so is there any coding that can detect the thumbnail request and open the full image from within a template?

Are we talking about the [img] code and making templates out of that? If so, there's no practical (yes, there is an overly-complicated way) of doing it.

Hi Filbert,

I'll try to explain it differently.

Normally, when u click on a thumbnail it will open up the full sized image using the code
<a href="/images/large/photo001.jpg"><img src="images/thumbnails/photo001.jpg"</a>

However, this method is not suitable  when you want it to automatically detect which image was click in order for it to automatically display the large image inside a new window with a banner or particular header on it.

The objective is to allow non-members to view thumbnails and only registered members to view the full image. ( The membership part I can do) So when a vistor click the thumbnail and they are not registered or signed in they are they refered to join or sign in. This can only be done when the image is placed inside a template, hence my need to find a template that will automatically determine which image has been selected then open a new window with the template.

I hope this has helped in explaning what i am looking for?

Im open to suggestions? :classic:

I still don't understand what you're saying...stock vB and virtually no hacks use thumbnails (the only one I can think of is the one I sell, and my Web Page Gallery's "thumbnails" are really just created by the user)...

Hi Filbert and anyone else following this thread!

Have a look at speedoptions and click one of the images.

It will open a new window that seems to be template based and utilises a banner/header and the larger image.

How can i do this?

If you're talking about just the thumbnails on the home page, check out some image gallery scripts. If you don't want to use the whole script, download it anyway and study the thumbnailing code. :)

Hi Filbert1,

I am trying to find the code or script that will open up a new window with a banner above the image.

Not the thumbnail part.
