How did you learn PHP?

And how long did it take you to get the basics? :D

Anyone want to point me in the right direction. I got PHP Bible book, but I am too lazy to read it. Any suggestions? :P

If your too lazy to read the book how do you expect to be able to learn php o.0

I've just purchased PHP + MYSQL for dummies. It looks quite good.

I previously bought Sams Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours, but i didn't like it.

I still think the best way to learn PHP is by searching for a script which kinda does what you want, and then adapting it to your needs.
This way, you come accross problems and errors, which you've got to solve (which I mostly do with the help of the function list at PHP (with usercomments, those are very handy!))
And if you still can't figure out what to do, ask others to help you.

vB (bad way of learning PHP I've found out), then working at NASA with it. I now realize that parts of PHP are incredible and pure genius and the other parts are such moronic stupidity that a monkey would write them better.

I learned the basics by reading online tutorials and such. It took me about 2 days to get the basics down, and I was able to create my first functional database, and php scripts to add, edit, and delete info from it. After that, I got a book. Books are the way to go. Much better than any online tutorial.
