Would I be breaking the licence agreement?
At the moment my thread gallery (in beta forum) uses the attachment.php to display the images in the gallery, however as it still uses permissions guests can not view the images :( .
It was my intension to make a new file "attachment1.php" from the original and deleting the permissions coding so that guests can view pics as well. Does this break the licence agreement? Thanks in advance |
I would assume not. Wayne Luke put together a Search2.php that added new functionality to the existing search file. He is a stickler for license agreements.
However, I am not sure you could distribute the file. You might just have to tell people how to create it. If I recally correctly, that is what Wayne did. Amy |
Correct. You'd be allowed to use it for your personal use but not distribute a file that will contain mostly vbulletin code :)
To be honest you'd be best to pass it over to the people at .com for analysis :) - miSt |
I don't think it would break the license agreement - it's just hacking the file really - as long as you don't distribute it to anyone else. Same goes for hacks - if a hack contains a LOT of native vB code unchanged, then it really shouldn't be released. It's a bit of a gray area, but I think you're okay if you're using it personally.
