A simple non-vb page login with message

But when I added that hack and an addon in another thread it returns me to my frontpage, but it still doesn't show the welcome screen, it still just shows the username/password fields.

Basically on my frontpage I want a login that shows the username and password fields with a button to login. As part of what non-logged in users see I would like the ability to add other stuff to the column that I put this. I would like to use a graphic that says login and also some other text that says register / Forgot password and also something like "Join our 1,448 member strong community." Where it grabs the amount of registered users in there. Basically I just want the ability to add stuff in there as I please that will only be seen if they haven't registered.

Then if they do, I want all that to be gone and for it to show a welcome message welcoming them using their username. But like the logged out version, I would like the ability to add new code in there as well, that I will work on or ask for help on it in another post.

Can somebody help me? It really shouldn't be that hard should it? I just wanted to state that I wanted the ability to add my own code to both the logged in and logged out versions of the hack.
