Username Verification System
 

Hey, Gang,

So, I'm familiar with Scott's "username checker" release (which checks to see if a username is in use before allowing a new user to continue to the details-submission section of the registration process), but I'm looking for something fairly customizable.

Specifically, I'm looking for a username checking system that has the user enter a username right after the COPPA check and terms agreement, and then compares this username with a list of rules, such as:

- no numbers or special characters (letters and apostrophes only)
- username not already taken
- username does not possess certain vBulletin Admin CP-defined words

... and then forwards the user to the remaining registration template, with the final accepted username already inputted into the form (I might edit the template to make it a hidden field, so it cannot be editted, for example).

Any thoughts?

Although it seems a good idea as a start, it is rather pointless - You could just incorporate a "no numbers or special characters" seeking code into the registration as it is (i believe there is a hack already), and it would do the same job...
