Ban Proxy users from being able to use the board V2.3.0

I have had enough with the kids of the world ..!

Can anyone code a Proxy Detector and Ban hack for version 2.3.0? Something that would allow you to ban a proxied from being able to access the board period! Yes I know some people will get caught in the cross fire but better i loose a few people reading than have huge flame wars happening.

It would be phenomenal I guess if it had the ability to switch on and off detection based on things such as posting threads or replys..

I wish this was an official part of VB and not just a hack :)

Thanks in advance.

I have tried a couple suggestions in here but they all seem to fail with version 2.3.0

Yep, Actually that was the first one i tried. Got an error. The code it tells you to look for in part two of the first post doesent exist in my functions.php. Its different.

i could really use this, i have alot of children that think its funny to be little "creeps"

sigh

i looked at the thread sweet cheeks mentioned but its laced with problems

this should honestly be made offical vb options <ban proxy users? yes/no>

as a matter of fact there is no technical way to stop all proxy users. There are some proxy servers that does not signal the server that they are proxies and there is no way to know that a user using such a proxy is a proxy user.

In other words even if proxy hacks can work for some proxy server, they will not in some other proxies..

Besides there are many disadvantages of banning proxies as there are many legitimate proxy users around. Eg. many companies, universities, organizations etc. users proxy outlets to connect their users to internet. Even some ISP has hidden proxy routing and if you ban proxies alltogether you will have problems with these users.

But seriously, maybe someone should think about doing it on the register.php file so they can at least not make new accounts.

I can understand about the viewing/posting maybe not wanting to block proxy users, but seriously, if someone could make a port scanner and add a clause into the register terms agreement that says "by accepting this you are agreeing to allow us to scan your ports for open proxies, yadda yadda yadda"

And make any new accounts that were created via proxy have to be "authorized" to become active wouldnt be such a bad idea.
