There is a hack out that allows you NOT to reduce post count when pruning. Look for it if that's what you want.

Technically it doesn't but it will when you update the post counters.

nope, thchnically it just gives you post mismatches filburt, because the total post on index.php is reduced immediately (if you haven't used an optimation hack :))
