2 hacks...are they out?
 

1. Instead of displaying a full image, the hack would display a thumbnail of the image.

2. After a user registers, the system would automatically send a pre-written greeting.

If these hacks are out already, can you please direct me to them? I searched but found nothing.

I have an unpublished hack that does #1. It does not alter the image file, it just uses the height and width directives to make the image appear smaller makes it a hyperlink. Clicking on it will pop a new window open with the full size image. If this has not been done before I will release it. ;)

Oh and were is the hack with the online/offline status of the user like this board has? I mean the one to the left under the user handle.

the offline/online part is only templates. And the auto pming system you want it out too.. I will try and fine a link.

hmm, only downside of that image-stuff hack is that it still needs to load a big image file... only displays it smaller...
so it would not increase the page loading speed in any way (might be usefull for non-broadband users....)

i have done the making images load as thumbnails, my biggest reason for it is that i have my forums set to 750 width, so if someone had an image greater than that it would throw the tables off and make them all out of whack. The code for it is simple. If Zzed hasnt got around to how to do it, let me know and i will put it up..

Won't it require all images to be hosted locally in order for them to be truly sized down? When people use the IMG tag they are usually pointing to a remote file.
