A good "Who's online on non-vB page hack"

I've seen loads but either they do not work properly, ie Darren Lewis's even though it's what I'm looking for, or, they simply aren't what I'm looking for.

Can anyone recommend a version that actually works? I would like it in the same format as the one on the default vb index.

I tried it, but although good, how can you let the usernames be a link, and then be linked to the user's profile?
