PHP editor
 

What is a good PHP IDE that is:

1. Free
2. Reasonably powerful
3. Does not look like a kid wrote it in Visual Basic
4. Is not written in Java

?

I use Dreamweaver MX but it continues to frustrate me for a variety of reasons.

Indeed, CuteHTML LE is free, has color code, allows you to manage all open files within one window. Has very very low load on computer.

I Like HTML Kit. It has a lot of PHP plugins as well as some other tools that make it really useful.

There are plugins to turn large blocks of HTML into PHP. There are plugins for PHP reference materials. There are plugins to generate gibberish filler text for page layout testing. It's a really nice editor.

Maybe I will give HTML Kit a try, can the php plugins be found on the site?

CuteHTML LE is also great with CuteFTP, you can simply edit a file through FTP and save it, without needing to manually download and re-upload etc.
