VB tutorials in general & Tutorial on adding new fields to threads?

You know how they say "Give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime."

Well I was hoping somebody could writeup a tutorial that shows us noobie users how to create new fields inside their threads.

So instead of just subject and message we could have more. And how to create multiple ones as well. The hacks are ok, but I need something I can learn from, and while I can learn from hacks, I'm sure I could learn better if it was in a tutorial format that said what things are doing and explained it a little better. I know that I would be more willing to write VB hacks if I knew more about what I was doing. I have some really kick ass ideas for hacks and would be willing to make them, but I need some noobie direction first.

Anything like this possible?

I basically want to know how to create fields in threads so that I can create my own and the much needed VB review database. I figure if we had a tutorial though on creating new fields, the written text wouldn't be used to just copy and paste, but would be used for countless other hacks that people would create from reading the tutorial.

You've been here since 2001, you haven't picked up on anything....

Come on now, everyone's different. I don't pay attention when installing hacks (except I glance through to make sure there's nothing malicious), so I only pick things up when seeking info to do my own custom hacks. Probably Gutspiller is the same way.

It's quite complex as for every field you have to add certain restrictions on it.

I could use this as well. A tutorial would be great.

because he is registered means that he has to pay attention to everything that goes on within the vB community? the way to help people is through encouragement.. not discourage them to the point that they just give up..

i have been regstered here for awhile now too.. I don't know vB that well either.. should I stop doing everything I have to do in a day for say the next 6 months and learn all there is to know? that is certainly not a way to get folks to learn nor a way to get them to add back to the community as a whole..
