mailing list abillity
 

Hi,

I'm looking to be able to run a message board, but also to work as a mailing list.

eg: joe user signs up, but doesn't like the web-board. He decides to receive all his postings via email. He also can respond to them via email as well.

Or, jeff user signs up. He seems to prefer the message board functionality, and doesn't use the email aspect.

I heard there is a hack of vbulletin to support this. Does it work as cleanly as a standard mailing list (say majordomo), or is it more complicated?

Quicktopic has a great implementation of this, but they do not sell their software. I'm very interested if your software can handle this.

There is a hack by Firefly that can do this. You can see how it works as it is installed on this site. It is definitely something that can be done. There are also hacks to incorporate other mailing lists into your site, and if you only want people to receive posts in emails, that's even easier - there are 2 other hacks that can do this.
