Dedicated Server Question

Hi,

I'm currently on a shared Server which is a Dual PIII, 40gig disk and 200gig B/W
I have the chance to get a Dedicated Single PIII, 40gig disk, 200gig B/W

I'm looking at putting just two vB sites on this Single PIII (both vB's are currently on same shared)

my question is if I go with the single would I notice a decrease or increase in speed? taking into account that I've no idea who else or how many others are on the shared Dual PIII

but there will be just the two sites on this Single.

Also are any of you on a Single PIII Dedicated? if so what's the performance like for your vB site?

Thanks

you failed to post how much ram both server have, that is an important factor.

I would definitely go with the dedicated either way, even though its a single processor.

Check the load levels of the shared server, that alone will give you an idea if its overloaded.

Also, what is the dual processor, ~ 600MHz or Dual ~ 1.0GHz+ ?

.. and what speed is the single processor?

Sorry,
both are identical servers except one is dual

both are
PIII 1.2Ghz
256Mb ram

Serverload on shared is normally quite good usually arround 0.5 to 1.0 but at certain times of the day it can rise to arround 8.0 or more.

The main reason for the move is Bandwidth and disk space.
as shared I get 650Mb disk and 20Gb B/W for one account and 500Mb disk and 30Gb B/W for the other

Dedicated will give 40Gb disk and 200GB B/W basically it's a resellers box.

Dedicated better than shared.

Dual CPUs better than single CPU.

But a single CPU dedicated will always be better than a dual shared (with the same specs, and depending on how many sites you are sharing with). Because you are not sharing. :)
