Server Load: 0.13 ? 0.19 : 0.27

God that's beautiful! Ever since I've had a vBulletin, I've had a problem finding a good/cheap host that could actually handle my forum. Ventures Online was the best I had ever used, but I just couldn't afford their prices so I didn't stay with them for long. Other than them, Racknine seemed to be the next best, but even still their servers seemed very stressed out. Lately the server load on there had been averaging around 3-7, and would jump to 20-100 many times, which of course was killing the server. I finally decided to move my site and try yet another host (http://pixiehost.com), and it looks like I finally found a good one! I can't afford to pay much more than $30 or so a month and I need at least 2gb of space & 50gb of transfer per month, so finding a host that could meet those needs hasn't been an easy task. I've only been with Pixie Host for about a week now, but so far their service has been excellent and I haven't seen the server load jump above 2. Anyways, I just had to express that to some people that would actually have a clue about what I was talking about. I've been with so many hosting companies that my members have started joking about us moving servers every month and the downtime, so it's such a releif to have found one that's cheap and can actually handle the load! :)

Is it dedicated or shared? If it's shared, it may be because the host is new, and you're the only one on it. :) Wait till they get popular and they pop more sites on the same server...

*Hopefully* that won't be the case. It's a shared server and I'm using a reseller plan since I need the bandwidth (if you know where to get a dedicated one for $35/month though you'll have to let me know ;)). It looks like they've been around for a couple of years now, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope things will stay as good as they are now. :)

On my host's shared server that I'm on the load occasionally jumps to 10 but I never really notice a slowdown. :)

I average .58 or so during peak hours with 100-150 online users on a dedicated server....

I have a ded. server and I average around 0.01 ;).

On average about 10 people online - Between 0.05 and 0.25. So it's pretty good.
