Hack to Export Forum

Is it possible export all the threads on a forum to a text file, or to HTML, or a PDF, or a printer?

One of my users has requested a copy of all the threads in one of my forums. I would like to be able to export in some sort of formatted appearance to a printer, because I can then create a PDF from that, and I could add an index to the PDF.

This way, I could periodically create a new PDF and my users can download it from the site, and have a searchable forum offline.

I have a PDF creator defined as a "Printer" on my PC.

Can anyone explain how to do the "print"?

Is there a hack which can do this for me?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

David Watson.

hmm, Logician has created a thread to text hack as far as i know :)

or you can just view the printable version of a thread which is a standart of vb :).

if you want to do that for all threads, you have to write a short script which will do that as a loop, but then you have to increase the phptimeout strongly ;)

I got directed here from the VBulliten Forum. I don't know PHP at all, and was hoping there would be a complete hack that would help me out.

I'm really trying to export all the threads in one forum.

Ya know, if somebody would write a hack like this that exports all threads to static HTML pages, it would be perfect for people on tiny shared servers to use for archives. The static HTML pages could easily be put on free web servers instead of having to have the archive on the same server as the board.

So many VB owners are hobbyists operating on a shoestring budget. This feature would probably be used by many of them if coded correctly. I would envisision it allowing the user to specifiy a directory name for the HTML and which forums to archive.
