Why is this board 2.2.8?

Why not 2.3.0?

Dean C 03-03-2003 03:26 PM

Because as you can imagine there are several major hacks installed here. Upgrading is no easy task and Chen is quite busy at the moment ;)

And not only that, 2.2.8 was most likely the last most stable version running.
Therefore 2.2.9 and 2.3.0 probably still have bugs which need attending and they aren't likely to run a buggy version here.
And yes, as Mist said, they probably don't want to update with all the hacks they have installed.

Dave.

So 2.3 rel 3 isn't secure?

Xenon 03-03-2003 03:50 PM

Exactly correct.
All important security fixes are installed here, vb230 just has a few new things in it, but nothing security relevant for us vb.org's ;)

normally the next step would be upgrading to vb3, and therefor, it's not so important to always be on top ;) now

2.3.0 IS secure. The upgrade from 2.2.9 to 2.3.0 has nothing to do with security.
