I would like to to know of a way to display something other than the showthread view to a particular user based on User ID. I want them to see the main forum display but when they view a thread, it will do something else (example: call a template, etc).

What I need to know is where would I insert an if/then or case statement to make this happen? Once I know where to put it, I can maybe figure out what I want to do lol


Or

if anyone knows of an evil hack where I can base it on User ID to where it freezes their browser up, or something to that effect, please let me know :D :smoke:

How about having it show them a 404 page error no matter where they click on the site? ;)

You can put the code in the showthread.php

If you look for where it calls the eval for the showthread template, you put an if statement before it that says if $bbuserid=x then show this template, else, show the showthread template.

Of course, you have to create the new demonic template as well.

I have made 2 unpublished hacks in my forums. I call one misery, and other one is calledstarvation.

This is a quote in how I explained misery to my moderators. ;)
And with the starvation, this is what the users get:
- A 10X flood check time
- No more than 20 characters per post.
- No displayable signature or avatar
- A board view with no colors
- A board view where every graphic is a red X
- No access to the search engine

So if any of these inerests you let me know and I will publish them. ;)
