not a hack request per say. but an idea. IE vbulletin developers please read this..
I know I know, posted in the general chat forum on vbulletin.com as well. but I cant resist and if it gets poo pooed as a regular vbulletin spec then atleast maybe a hack can come out of it...
wsdl or web Web Services Description Language taken from whatis.com Quote:
if I am reading this correctly, the direct application for vbulletin is the idea that communities can share their user information in a secure manner. IE creating mega communities. Multiple forums linking their registration information. Sort of a forum based version of usenet? debunk it please before I go mad with excitement... In specifics what is needed would be SAML read on my bb brothas Quote:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees...02-04-22.shtml free licenses > + saml charter page at oasis http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/security/ soo so so so so can we do it huhuhuhuh pluuuueeeze :o sorry Im a kid at heart! -Dom :rambo: |
driving to work today I was thinking bout this... saml will work in theory but wsdl I am iffy on.
So the question was posed. How do you share the thread table across the internet without opening the dbase to remote requests... here is my solutions xml finger 2 forums in this example forum a forum b forum a shares forum "foo" with forum b user on forum b signs on to the foo forum forum b send a finger (modified for this purpose) to forum a. forum a checks the thread table for any modified data since the last finger from forum b. forum a compiles new thread information into an xml datagram with the needed information back to forum b. The data is pushed to forum b. add to that frequent replication using smtp and you have a winnner |
