How to allow Custom Profile Fields to exceed 250 characters
I am trying to allow a member to write a good decent paragraph about themselves but they cant go over 250 words. How do i disable this part of VB and allow me to make it maybe 1000 or so?
Can anyone give me a hand? |
you have to change the db structure from varchar(250) into mediumtext.
where exactly do i do that xenon? I cant find the varchar line anywhere in the phpmyadmin. Any direction? :)
you have to go into fieldlist (i think that's what it's called) and edit the column
Hey that helped thanks alot. And Thanks Xenon for pointing out to use Mediumtext. :) Appreciate it all, now my members can atleast post somewhat lenghty biographies. :)
Love ya guys |
Hey where'd you find the "fieldlist" ???? I can't find it anywhere. Please and thank you. :) How exactly is this all done?? Thanks.
you find the fieldlist by editing a table with phpmyadmin
The thing is I have heard of that back when I started all this VB stuff, but now I forgot where I saw it or what it was. Is it a program that I download? Sorry to be a newbie with a stupid q but I know nothing of this "phpmyadmin" :ermm: I realy do recognize the name though :D lol but seriously, I know nothing about it. Any basic help would be appreciated. :) Thanks.

In your server control panel (contact your host for control panel details) - you should see a place for MySQL and inside of that a link for PhPMyAdmin.
thanks. that was way easier than I thought. :)
