Well, I just saw this thread at Rage3D, quite stunning I must say:

I have a thread on my forum with over 17200 posts. The biggest thread ever was at gtplanet.net and it had over 110,000 posts but it got closed.

hmm, on a board i once worked, we had a thread with 263 pages a 25 posts, then there were some db problems so a new one started and so on, every 5-6k post a new one started, i think version 5 is the current one ;)
