Transferring a forum from one server to the other
Ya recently i'm abotus to move servers.
ANyway, I backed up the forums from the back-up database featuer in the admin panel and i got about a 45 meg .sql file. On my new server, i've set up phpadmin and a uploaded all my forum files but that's it. What do i do with the big 45 meg .sql file? Cause there isn't a palce in phpadmin that just say import everything. What do i do to get the database good again? |
The backup feature in the admin pannel and phpMyAdmin are not reliable at all. If you have SSH or Telenet access, back up and restore the database using that. ;)

that makes hardly any sense. I don't know what telnet and SSH are so defining that and where to get it would be a good start.

Sorry, it's the best definition I could find for you. In fact that thread contains a link to a perfectly good SSH client. Apparnetly this is not good enough so I'll stop trying to help now.

Vivi Ornitier: google.com might help you with SSH, too.
