Can't login to admin panel after database transfer
Hi!
Just transferred my database and vb files from one server to another copying mysql/var/database to new sever via fxp. Database seems fine, i can access it via phpmyadmin on new server and all posts, members and stuff seem to be there. Moreover php kinda works and when i try to log into the admin panel, i'm taken again to the login screen, no password error screen, no weird messages... Also, if i log off and enter forum index, i can see post counts, forum descriptions, forum structure, amount of users, amount of posts... EVERYTHING seems ok. However: - if i click on any nick, i'm taken to the password recovery form - if i try to log in from forums home, i'm taken to the password recovery form - if i click on any forum or subforum, No forum specified error message appears. - forum moderatos list appear fine - signup page bounces back to signup page... Surfing the db with phpmyadmin and everything seems totally fine! :( |
I had the same problem when I installed vB on the server for the first time after configuring it one my pc for a while.
There seems to be a cookie from somewhere on the site causing a conflict with vB's cookies. Try to delete all cookies from that particular domain, then try to log in. |
It's not cookie related, already tried that.
It's pretty weird the behaviour of the new server, i assume php AND mysql are working fine since posts, members, forums, descriptions and more appear fine! What else can i try?!?! |
Any time a login fails it's almost always the result of cookies. If deleting the ones you thought were the problem didn't help, try deleting all your cookies.
|
I tried with different browsers and obviously on I.E. I emptied ALL of them, (couldn't see a way to selectively delete cookies).
Is clicking on a forum and getting redirected to "invalid forum number" or clicking on login and getting redirected to "password request form" normal behaviours based on cookies?! |
Are you using an unhacked 2.2.9?
|
hacked 2.2.0
Sorry, no time for upgrades. |
hmm, maybe your server uses php4.2.x which makes problems for vb lower than 2.2.6 (register globals off and so on..)
try to update to 229 and see if it helps |
What's the deal!??!
Old server was running 4.0.6 smoothly! :( New one has 4.3.0 Would PHP3 solve the problem? |
Well, Xenon did raise an interesting point I didn't think of. Maybe you can ask your host to switch register_globals on for your account or maybe you are able to do that yourself (dedicated server or so?).
