makeselectcode()?

Anyone have a clue how a person would go about making a function similar to makeinputcode() and makeyesnocode()? I'm having problems figuring out how I would go about filling up the <option> tags, and I'm not sure how I would dynamically be able to define which option would be selected first. Thanks for any help!
