New Message Icons

I've noticed, when you are on the index.php and you get a new message the new post icon turns yellow (with original templates) you go into the forum and click on the new message to read it. Now when you go back to the forum index.php the icon is still yellow. Is there any chance this could be made to go back the grey icon after all the new messages in the forum have been read?

there is a link in a forum to mark a forum as read AFAIK
