Administrators have to...

A serious problem I have is people signing up who are banned using proxies. I have a board with 28,000 members so I can't ban proxies. I use the proxy server hack that is out there but there are about 5 troubled users I can't get rid of that spam, flame, hack the boards every week. So is there anyway that on the Admin CP it will display all users that have used a proxy at one time or another. And you can approve or disaprove of them?

NTLDR 01-18-2003 07:59 PM

Admin CP -> IP Addresses

Enter the IP of the proxy and it should return all the users that its logged who have used it and then you can ban etc as you would normally do.

Problem is they are using different proxy ip's. One day there using something like lets say 33.245.632.24 then u ban em. Next day they come back and then on the proxy hack it says something like 64.228.28.10. That's the problem.

I used to have the same problem

never could solve it

I'm afraid there's nothing much you can do.
Try banning the email they use to register accounts with and making sure email authorization is switched on. There's only so many email domains they can use.

Dave.

i have it installed on my board so it bans all proxys unless i allow them to. i put them in a user group. logician showed me how to do it. icq me or email me and i'll tell you how to do it.

Somewhere, someone mentioned using a hack to moderate posts based on usergroup to moderate new users' posts. Basicly, if the first post was civil, the user would get usergroups switched, if it was bad, they'd get banned. I'm not sure how well this would work for you.

You need a hack where they are placed in a 'hell bann' group so they can't log out or they're automatically taken to a gay porn site or somthing.

Its the only way.

WetWired 01-21-2003 11:54 AM

Problem is that they can just log out by deleting cookies.

Not if they're just dumbasses fooling around.
