Force new members to post when they register...HEEELP!
 

Anyone know what hack i need to force new users to post upon refistration?

Like if you register you will get your username deleted if you dont post witin 24 hours or something similar??

That is quite a gay hack if you ask me. You would lose peoples interest.

I don't think you can discriminate a hack based on its sexual
orientation (:p, j/k), but in terms of how such a hack can be done: it can't, since there is no logic involved.

Your members wont bother posting if they discover they have to reach X amount within 24-hours, unless they are really into whatever genre your forum possesses. Most of all, people are forgetful creatures, and if somebody accidentally forgets about this 24-hour notice, and is deleted, they will be irritated--and might even think they were banned. This kind of impression on your new members and guests isn't the best to have, so I say ditch your idea.

I run a board with 7 gigabyte pictures on.
So peoples interest are there belive me.

Logik.. if people only register to suck baandwith and
dont contribute to the community i would
hopefully have them lose interest.

My baandwith is currently $1.300 per month so if people
cant contribute with 1 posting to download i dont want them
on my board.

I just wanted to know if any of the php coders could point
me in the right direction or give me a estimate to make this
if its not already a known hack?

Exactly how would you like that to work?

eg, 1 post and the forums are for ever open, or some sort of ratio/dl setting, where if they don't contribute with a comment or post x times for every y attachment views. or what?

Depends on what you want done.. there may be a hack on the boards that comes close, or can be tweaked a little to do what you want.

I'm not that familiar with what's here..

Hold that thought, how about not deleteing users etc, just something like this

down load attachement = no } else { yeah go for it }

The way i wish it to work is only 1 time.

So when they sigin up they need to make a post
"wich shouldent be that hard as they joined to be able to post"
wihin 24 hours.

I just need a forced 1 time post after registration if that could be possible....any idea Dan on how to do that?

I'm fairly busy atm, but i'll see if I work something out on the weekend, if now one else has somethine for you by then.

You really want the account deleted, or just unable to download attachements?

The former would probably require some sort of cron job,
the latter is much simpler to do
