Minihack: Descriptive alt text for smilies
 

This hack adds alt text to smilies, describing them and showing the the text that you need to use in posts to display them. It's very practical, especially in forums with lots of smilies. It's very simple to install, details are in the attached text file.

Not working for me. I get no errors, I just get the smilie name, no alt text, no "( )", nothing.

That's odd. Would you be confortable e-mailing me part of your functions.php? If so, start where it says '//smilies' (unhacked line 646) and finish where it says 'if($dobbcode and strpos($bbcode,"]")) {' (unhacked line 663).

You might want to note that the "alt text" only shows up in the actual posts and not in the smilies box. :)
