Swear= banned for # minutes.

Is there a hack where a member get's banned for say five minutes when he posts certian words?

time based things are always problematical things....

the banning part wouldn'T be the problem, but to save the time you have to add another field to the usertable. i don'T think it's worth...

why not just activate word filter so they are unable to swear.

That is worth trash when it comes to trying to make them not be able to swear. There's these things called vBulletin codes that make it easy to get around censoring.

Granted you can get by the filter... but what make you so sure this "hack" would stop anyone from trying to bypass it? it would still not be able to stop all words.. givin the fact that there are many variations of characters to use and you'll probably be banning people for not even swearing. That's like trying to block someone from saying "Sh!t" i could easly make up 100 variations .. you'll end up blocking all 26 alphabets to stop anyone from bypassing it.

If they get around it constantly, ban them. The filter is there for a reason and so few people grasp that concept it seems (mostly in the age range of 1 to 13 where cussing makes them feel older)

Lol @ filburt:p

Totally true - I don't filter stuff though, as I don't care if they swear or not;)
