Report As NEWS
 

It would be VERY help to my site if we had the option of reporting a forums post as NEWS. Meaning, there would be a checkbox if it is a new post and a graphic button if it is an exisiting post that would e-mail a particular person regarding the post they are posting/viewing. If someone has already reported that post, it would tell them and not e-mail it again.

This would work almost like REPORT POST function.

My site has a very large community and the majority of the news I found come from the forums so it would help if people could report these posts rather than me going through them all.

Can anyone help with this?

There is a function like this in vbportal, but you would have to rip the code to do that, maybe someone has already done it!

well, if you know a little of php you can duplicate the report post to a "report news" all you really have to do it insert another button/link into the postbit template, name it "Report as News" or something.

duplicate the report post template, copy and paste the content of it into a new template, call it "report news" template or something, then change most of the words in red to whatever you want it to say .. like "you are reporting this post as news" etc..

then duplicate the report.php in the forums directory, name it to news.php ... open it and change eval(); to the new template you just created... it's pretty simple to do.. follow me?

ok, well, I got it working but there are certain problems where this would need to evolve as a real hack. As stated above:
