drop shadows on forum category blocks

ok, i have the category spacing hack installed for the forum home page, i can add an image header to each one, and a footer. the thing is i cant seem to have a drop shadow image either side of the block (or any other image for that matter).

i'm guessing that i need to edit the forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost template, and maybe the forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost as well.

i guess im looking for a similar effect to that on yaxay atm, if that helps to illustrate what i'm talking about - bearing in mind that it may grow from a simple dropshadow to something completely different.

i have tried a few different things, but i cant seem to keep the forum blocks together (with inner colour borders etc intact and not all out of synch).

any help would be muchly appreciated :)

just incase you are wondering what on earth i am talking about, i have attached an example image of what i mean. this is yaxay's v2 skin btw...

again, any pointers on this would be greatfully received.

There's absolutely no reliable way of doing this short of simply adding shadows to the images you're using. Trust me because I've researched this to death with CSS and it just can't be done.

yeah, that's what i mean, i have a 1x7 pixel image that i want to tile along the edge of the category block itself, thing is, i don't really know where to put it. i'm guessing that it needs to be spread between at least two of the templates (as i mentioned above). this would be done utilising some sort of nested table config, but which template do i close that table in? i am still trying through trial and error, i may get there soon, but if anyone knows how to do it, i'd be very greatfull for some input on this :)

in a little while yes, hehe, it is a still a bit rough atm and only on a dev board (localhost) :)

plus, there are prolly easier ways of doing it than the way i have it atm, so if i work out a better way i will implemeent that instead.

ok we have implimented this on our redesign .. although a few areas of the site are not yet running, the board is all drop shadowed for you to see.
