Forum Invitation Form

All information is in attached text file. This hack creates a page for users to enter a friend's Email address and an optional message. Their friend will then receive an EMail inviting them to join the board. :) Feel free to edit to suit your forums to your hearts content. :)
Involves creating and uploading 1 new PHP file to forum rootdir, and 5 new templates.
Any questions, I cannot guarantee prompt response but I don't mind an Email with any questions, or just post in here.

Question: Would it be possible, say if the friend signs up with the same email that the msg was sent to, the person who sent it gets a referral for it?

KingsGambit 12-01-2002 03:27 PM

I don't see why not N9ne, quite a good idea, but this doesn't involve any tables to memorise such things. The link they receive to the registration page contains &referrerid=$bbuserinfo[userid] in it, so referring member gets credit. :)
Next step for this might be to register user as well, and send them a username and random password in the Email perhaps?

I don't think registering the user and sending username and password is such a good idea...

So the url sent contains the referrerid link? If so, that's fine :D

Mmm... this is similar to Unknown's Refer Friends hack...

One single question.
Are 2.2.8 (and earlier version) hacks working correctly on 2.2.9?
