URGENT: Too many connections?
G'day all,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this, as it's been a recurring problem recently that's been causing my site to become *very* unstable. Basically, its this error: Warning: Too many connections in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/xfan/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40 Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Too many connections in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/xfan/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40 And I'm wondering what it is that causes that, and what measures can be taken to prevent it happening? Thanks in advance! |
Just as an addendum, today I discovered a process that had been running for 55 minutes that was chewing up over 90% of my server's CPU! That's what was causing the "too many connections" error, but what process would chew up over 90% of the CPU state?!

If it's a dedicated server, just increase your maximum db connections in php.ini to 100 or more. Looks like your site is becoming busier. :) As for the process, could be anything. Make sure you're not being hacked. Check your hacks - do you have anything that may form a query loop? |

Thanks mate, |
!!! You have LOTS of hacks in that list!!! Some of them I am not familiar with. When I have time I will look at them. :) What server are you on? Shared or dedicated? If it's shared, it's time to go dedicated.
|
Most of them are very small hacks which makes the list seem long :)
As for what server my site is on, it's a dedicated RackShack server. |
Mmm... that's weird. I suggest you post in the "Server Config" forum in vB.com and ask eva2000 to optimize the server for you. :)

Well on further investigation it looks like that the process problem I mentioned above is related to the httpdmon bug that affects ensim's WEBppliance.
http://forum.rackshack.net/showthrea...threadid=13753 I'll get the fix for that installed and see if that resolves it. |
