what causes this error when running a query?

when i run a query to install the proxy IP hack i get

You have to choose at least one Column to display.

query i am supposted to run is

ALTER TABLE post ADD proxyip VARCHAR(16) not null AFTER ipaddress;

so did you choose the column to run it on? What are you using phpmyadmin? Why not post this in the author's thread?

i dont know which column to choose.. i tried hightlighting the post table , but got the same error.

yes phpmyadmin.
