[Bug fix] Private forums show up in forumjump on failed admincp/modcp login

If someone trys to access the admin/mod cp using a valid admin/mod username but wrong password, all private forums which the admin/mod has access to will appear in the forumjump box on the wrong password page.

:) Funny how this bug lasted this long before someone found it and reported it here:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...threadid=57808

I'll post the simple fix here:

Open admin/sessions.php and find:

PHP Code:

eval("standarderror(\"".gettemplate("error_wrongpassword")."\");");

ABOVE it, ADD:

PHP Code:

$useforumjump 0

Done!

This is the official fix by PPN. Will come out in 2.2.9 probably.

Bug after bug after bug. Can't vb make a version that doesn't have at least one bug in it?

Erwin 11-03-2002 08:46 AM

It's impossible to foresee bugs when writing software. A lot of bugs can only be found when the product is being tested by thousands of users. Like in this case with this bug, which was left undetected for many versions until now. :)

I've owned my license for over a year now. Been thru 9 new versions. Or was it 10, shoot, I lost track.Thats a bit excessive, don't ya think?

I think they should release a bug free version of 2.xx before moving on the vb3.

Every release is 'bug free' . you have to remember that many sites run vbulletin and someone is always bound to spot something. Upgrading software is a way of life, you sould be thankful vBulletin releases bug fixes as fast as they do, ever ran a UBB?. That thing is littered with bugs and infopop waits a looong time to include them in a release.

Can this allow people to access the private forums or do they just show up in the forumjump?

it just shows up, they can not acess them.

Dean C 11-03-2002 11:51 AM
