Auto headline/news mod
i wish to add an auto updating news section to my portal/board which would automatically grab headlines/news from differnt sources on the web like bbc.com , cnn.com etc and is refreshed periodically at user defined intervals....
working example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi.html if you look at the top section with the latest news scrolling .... someting like that i am a v-bulletin licence holder and would really appreciate any help in this context Thankx |
Desi,
Do you just want to add this to a header of the entire board or a specfic forum? I can assist you further from there. |
thanks SenatorByte
all i want is news from some good sites scrolling in a window .. wanna add this to my vbportal and index page of vbulletin cheers |
Desi,
To be honest I am not familiar with VBPortal's interface so I can't really help you there; however, I can help you if you want to put such a script on just the VBindex page. Firstly you need to find a script. I know Moreover Technologies (moreover.com) use to offer a free version of their news software; however, that was a couple months ago. You should defintely be able to find one somewhere on the web and most likely it will be a mix of simple HTML and javascript. After you have the code neccesary go to your forumhome template and place the code where you want it to go. Most likely you would want it after your header. In this case search for this in your forumhome template: Quote:
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask :) |
i was after something other than moreover.com...
was wondering if there is already something there and a mod already made for it thankx |
There are a few hacks that can do this. Go to "Search" and search for "news" - you should see them.

thanks for the advice Erwin but i went through 28 pages and could not find anything remotely connected :(
perhaps i didn't explain myself properly ..... what i need is a small window scrolling below the header of the vbulletin index page which would 1. grab latest news for top news sites like bbc.com /cnn.com etc. 2.and the news would be posted in a scrolling window Example :http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi.html there is a section right on top called "" LATEST: """" something like that appreciate all the help thanks |
any suggestions !!!
i'm ready to pay if someone can help out with this hack :) cheers |
