Need to have "new thread" button link to HTML page, and more...

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

When a user wants to add a new thread, they click on the "New Thread" button, which will take them to an HTML page. A link at the bottom of the HTML page will then take them to the correct page where they actually enter their thread title and first post.

I'm sure that I'll have to make a separate page for each section of the forum, but the question is how to make the button link point to the correct HTML page, and the link on that page point to the correct php page.

I'm not that familiar with PHP coding and need to get some help to finish this job.

Any suggestions?

Go into your admin cp

Expand your template list

Expland the template section called 'Showthread templates'

In your 'showthread' template find this code:

PHP Code:

<a href="newthread.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=newthread&forumid=$forum[forumid]"

Change it to:

PHP Code:

<a href="theaddresstoyournewpage"

Now that will take you to the page of your choice but there is no way of having a link on that page to post a new thread in the forum you were in without making the new page a php page which calls the previous forumid from where you were previously..

Thanks for the info, where could I get help making the php page that would be able to do what I'd like to do?

You can automatically integrate a HTML page into your forum without making a PHP page using my "HTML Integrator" hack - just click on the link in my sig.

That's a pretty useful hack, however ideally what I am looking for is the New Thread button to open up an HTML page in the same window, have a posting agreement on the page, and the link for "I Agree" would go to the page where you enter the title of the thread and first message.

So basically the HTML page would be "between" the New Thread button and the page where you type in your message. Ideally, it would be nice if Admins and moderators didn't have to see the HTML page and go straight to the posting page.

I'm not familiar with adding hacks or eyeing the code to see what's possible, so I'm not sure how your hack can apply in my situation. I'm sure I'm missing something so please let me know how I can use your hack! :)
