vb.org Archive - How do I add an IRC server to my dedicated?

I've been using the Jpilot hack and interface for live chat on two of my vb communities but have just purchased a dedicated server and will be moving all the sites/forums over there later this week. I have been using the enterthegame.com irc server up until this point but would like to use my own dedicated server if that is possible. What do I need to do to make this happen? Software, etc? What are the pros and cons of running one of these? I want it only for my chats, not for public consumption.
If it isn't obvious, I do not know much about dedicated servers and am having a contractor setup mine, but they are not sure about running an IRC server.
Any help is appreciated.
