PhpBB getting ready for vb3?
 

My host, is a programmer at phpBB.

He has been going on about phpBB' new portal, and a new project that is to be competing with vb3.

Anyone have any information on this?
Im not really worried or anything, I think it would be a bit fun to see what they are planning, or doing.

but who know, perhaps they've got other good ideas which we have to hack in vb3 ;)

Doesn really matter. I think its lame that all these forum people have to try and compete.. most of them are completely worthless like phpbb, ubb, and any others you can think of.. they can try to make it but in the end did phpbuilder.com choose any of them? Did flashkit.com? There are so many corperate sites that have used VB is insane.. I think they should just shoot themselves.

All most other BBs out there are vB wannabe's :p

don't be such as hard neo.

phpbb for example has a strong position in smaller sites, where the siteadmin cannot buy a vb licence

the other boards have also a right to exist, and it's good for vb,too that they exist, because as i said sometimes they have good ideas, which can be included to vb... ;)

ikonboard have a few tricks up their sleeve too...

ive been talking to one of the programmers for ib PHP (i think thats what its called) and it seems quite nice...

iB Php was a project announce publicly for awhile now.

Its actually mentioned on there site, alot of site admins are looking forward to it, it seems as it has high hopes to wipe out Invision Board.

when they had the debug info on the ib PHP site it had 48 queries on forum home and about 60 queries on forumdisplay and it hit a ridculous 80 queries on showthread.

I think they need some work.

Alot of the smaller sites will end up using vB, once they use phpBB2 or ibForums and their board starts to grow in size they will need something like vB, its mainly popular due to the support time is under an hour in the support tickets and that its supported by a paid development team which guarantees its not going to disappear overnight.
