Option to make photos show as a Thumbnail

I did a search but could not find exactly what I was looking for. I hope this hack is feasible.

What I am looking for is a way to make an attached photo in a post to show up as a Thumbnail instead of full size.

This would help cut down on bandwith when a thread contains a lot of different photos and generates a lot of views and would allow users to see the photo and decide whether or not they want to see the full size photo. It would also cut down on page load time since the page is a lot smaller in size.

Some features I would like to see in this hack:
1) A user can click on the thumbnail and would be taken to the full size photo.

2) Admin would be able to set the default width and height of the thumbnail inside the admincp.

3) Admin would be able to set each forum with thumbnail turned on or off and could also set all forums either on or off.

4) Admins/Mods would have the ability to bypass the default settings when they reply or start a new thread. There would be a check box next to the file upload box viewable only by Admins/Mods. This box would either be checked (thumbnail on) or unchecked (thumbnail off) depending on what the default for the forum is set in the admincp. Admins/Mods can either uncheck or check the box at their descretion. Admin can also set it so only they have the ability to change the defaults.

5) Admin has the ability to set the max file size for thumbnails in admincp.

6) Anything else that you can think of that will enhance this hack!

Thanks in advance if you want to try to code this hack! :)

Easy, I have the code for making thumbnails :) Put it in showthread.php, then add some tables and variablize stuff in the code, and have it pull necessary information from the database, like width size, etc...

I actually made an image gallery script based around this, but I havn't been able to release it due to the fact I work on weekends now, and go to school on weekdays, it should most likly be released tomorow.

Thanks for the promising news. Will your hack have all of the features that I described in my first post? Will it work the same?

Looking forward to seeing it!

Well its a new gallery system, more for sites to have an image gallery, this is the lite version, if you want, tell me the details of what your thinking, and I can try to apply it for this situtation.
