Limit Number of Posts per Forum
 

Hey All...

Question... is there a hack already, or does anyone know how to hack VB so that I can limit my members to only a certain number of posts per day in just ONE of my forums. I have a particular forum that is equivalent to a "chit-chat" off topic area and have had a few members abuse it to get post counts up, so I'd like to limit members to only 5 posts a day in that forum.

Any ideas/thoughts?

what about doing what Firefly had done with the Lounge forum? Just edit forum proporties and mark this forum as "posts to that forum does not increase the post count of member"? :) I believe it's the best solution..

But if it does not fit to your needs, I'm positive this hack has already been released (at least here in this Request board)..

Actually, I was thinking about this a bit more, and maybe for my needs it would be better if I could restrict specific members (or user groups) to only a certain number of posts per day. I hate to punish people who haven't abused their membership priveledges (boy, I can't spell that word!). By forum would be fine too, or by user group.

I don't think you're idea is a bad one Log, unfortunately though, the reality is that a lot of members just don't read the "rules" and "guidelines" as it is, so I'm not sure it would have much impact. By the time they realized it wasn't increasing post count, they'd already have posted 200 messages LOL

This is an old request, but I still never figured a way to limit a members ability to post. So usergroup WHATEVER could only post 10 times a day (as an example)...

anyone?

I am also looking for a similar hack, where I could restrict specific users, or usergroups posts to a certain number per day.
