Adding custom field in postbit
 

I need to add a custom field in my postbit. It needs to be a required field upon registration, but for existing users this wouldn't show up in the postbit unless it was filled in under Edit profile. The custom field would be called just OS.

i'm not sure if i understand exactly..

just add a new field in your ACP required at registration
Edit and viewable by users

then in your postbit template add $post[fieldX]
if a users haven't entered anything, it wouldn't show up anything..

Thats fine for new registrations. But it will show as an empty field in the postbit if the existing members don't fill it in, right?

yes it'll show up as an empty string in postbit -> nobody can see it until it's filled
