I'm sure a hack's been written for this...
 

...but I'll be damned if I can find the right one. I've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. If it's right under my nose I apologize, but would like to ask if you all can point me in the right direction.

I'd like to have a News and Annoucements box at the top of my forum home page (index) and any of the forumdisplay pages, that allows me to put snippets of posts from one of my forums (News and Announcements) with a link to take the user to the actual post. I remember reading one guy's hack where he created new tags ([intro] or something like that) to determine what the snippet would be, but I can't find that hack again, and it doesn't seem like it was quite what I was looking for (but maybe I can tweak it).

Anybody have a hack or know of a hack that does the above?
