Attachments and avatars

I didn't find a better forum to post this, so ohh well!
Im having problems with attachents and custom avatars, everytime I uplaod it says - "Message
The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again. " while gif and jpg files are allowed. Help!

i know that this was a recent fix in the past... did you upgrade or make the changes? regards...

No, fresh install, of 226. Worked fine on my computer (with php server installed) but for some reason it doesn't on the net.

when my friend gave me a pirat of vB (no, i didnt use it on the net) it wouldnt work when i used my comp as a php server, the install script kept repeating it's self at step 1 >_>

Well, everything else works fine, except the attachement thing. Are the images/files stored in the database? or on the HD?
