Logins & Dealing with virtual servers, subdomains
I was having some difficulty with people staying logged in. The problem was my forum is running on a virtual server, so it was responding both to my domain name, the server domain and the dot subdomain where I actually intended it to run!
Needless to say when the search engines picked up the main server address, folks weren't getting valid cookies when they tried to log in. What I did that seems to address the problem is change the relative URL in the forum_logincode template to an absolute URL so I would be sure that everyone gets to the same page after login: <form action="http://absolute-path-to/member.php" method="post"> This seemed to clear up the problem |
