IDs/Licenses: Lesane Store Hack Add-On
 

I saw this at FFR. Anyway, it lets users buy the ability to upload a "License", a graphical image displaying stuff about their identity at a forum. They also have them at DeviantArt (an art community). Any help would be greatly appreciated =DDD

Ask Afterlab, he is the one who make these. I doubt he will give this hack away but ask him anyway.

The ID thing is just $userinfo[userid] or $post[userid] but getting it into an image like that would be more complicated.

wouldnt it be nice if afterlab would give his hacks out...

I've been thinking about doing this for a while now, but I never thought of integrating it with the Store hack.

I have some other ideas to tie into this, I'm going to start on it next week.

You don't want me to release it when I'm finished?

If I make a hack I'll share it with people, because realistically I know that it's not going to make any difference to my own forum's membership. Plus the fact that one of the best things about being a part of vB.org is sharing code with other members, and being able to improve your own forums even if you don't know anything about php.

I'm glad most people on here share their stuff, or this place would be dead.

I don't want to get into a large argument over this, but I worked hard on coding my own feature to be something totally unique to vBulletin. I hate the idea that anyone can come in and request it and automatically get it. I worked hard on something that I thought would be a good idea for my members, but than someone comes along and requests it here and they get it, and guess who's left in the dark? It's me. I get nothing.. Now, whenever you release it, everyone will look at my script at my forums and say "Oh it's that hack that JohnWarwick made, who cares".

The same with the Lesane store hack. My store hack isn't his.. It's my own. In fact I had mine before that hack was ever released, but I don't get anything. They come to me and say "Oh can I have that hack for the Lesane Store hack". It pisses me off because I do things to be unique and then I get ripped off by someone who comes along and gets all the credit.

Well, that's the thing - if I made a hack like yours, I'd release it, yet fine tune it and add smaller details that made it unique. Then, on top of that combine it with a unique graphical style that no-one can really copy (unless they rip it, but if their forum becomes popular they're going to get found out).

That way, the hack would be known as yours by everyone, you'd get all of the credit for it. And yet none of the bland and standarised versions of it on the web would be as good. You'd have more members through people knowing more about you and your site, and still have something like no other.

Still, it's your choice.
