Allow editing but keep copy of original

For the most part, editing posts is ok..but you open up the possibility of people starting a flame and then after things get out of hand just deleting or modifying the original post...or someone decides to leave and edits the hell out of every post ever made...thereby ruining your board...
Hence, if the original post remains in the database...but the person is still allowed to edit...and with one link the original post shows up...

Why don't you just not let them flame each other? Problem solved.

What an inteligent suggestion vincent

dwh, I agree this would be very useful. Often we have something like this where someone will kick off severely at someone, then as soon as they spot a mod is online will get scardey and edit out their original posts, thus making it hard for us to decide what action to take against them.

If no one does this I'll have time to work on it in January...

that would be an incredible hog and horrible inefficient btw ;)

It would certainly add a lot of posts but there's no reason the original version couldn't be kept in a separate table...why does it have to be in the posts table?

And if it isn't in the posts table and you have the hard drive space...I don't really think it need be horribly inefficient, unless it's written that way. ;)
