Simple request...
Ok, i know i should be able to figure this one out, but i am just too tired i guess....i have tried a few variations and nothing is working.
How do i change the vb code so that categories can't be posted to, WITHOUT making them "closed"??? None of our category forums are used for posting, so all i really need to do is disable posting to categories altogether. If i mark them as closed for new posts, the lock icon on the forumhome throws people and i get a ton of emails asking about it. |
Disable "Show locks" in vBulletin Options.

to much hacking for that Chen.. cant you make it easier?
|
umm...that doesn't work :(
it is possible though that it is because of the hack i installed recently Forums in colums on forumhome. trust me, if it had been as easy as that, i wouldn't have asked :) |
Edit category:
Act as forum? (Will act as a category if no) Yes No set it to no. and no it has nothing to do with my hack ^^ |
Ok..so much for this being simple!!!
Sorry Xenon, not trying to say it is your fault, nor anyone else's. Truth be told, i have over 40 hacks installed, so it could be any one of them causing the problem. I have the categories set to no as you state above. I also have the show locks set to no. But the locks still appear. The problem is, if i set open for new posts to no, it shows the lock. If i set it to yes, people post thread that wind up in that forum, even though the threads are not viewable, since it is a category, not a forum. |
hmm, perhaps you have altered your forumhomelevel1nopost templates.....
try to revert em. |
the only difference between the original and my new template for forumhomelevel1nopost is that this line:
