It all depends on how the code was written for phpRPG. Do you have a url for us to view and download it?

i looked in the scripts code and found this for how they make the users table

PHP Code:

        $sql mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error());
        echo
'.';

$query "
CREATE TABLE "
PHPRPG_DB_PREFIX "_users (
  user_id smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
  user_name char(20) NOT NULL default '',
  user_pass char(32) binary NOT NULL default '',
email char(60) NOT NULL default '',
name char(20) NOT NULL default '',
status char(20) NOT NULL default '',
HP mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '20',
  HP_MAX mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '20',
MP mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '10',
  MP_MAX mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '10',
STM mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '200',
  STM_MAX mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '200',
EXP mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
GP mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
STR tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
NTL tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
PIE tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
VIT tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
DEX tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
SPD tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '4',
CW mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
CC mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '80',
  map_name char(20) NOT NULL default '',
  map_xpos tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
  map_ypos tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
  last_active char(255) NOT NULL default '',
delay char(255) NOT NULL default '',
  delay_reason char(255) NOT NULL default '',
race char(10) NOT NULL default '',
avatar char(10) NOT NULL default '',
host char(255) NOT NULL default '',
  PRIMARY KEY  (user_id)
) TYPE=MyISAM
        "

how could i bring that into the vBulletin users table???

Dark_Wizard 08-03-2002 04:32 PM

You have to update the RPG code to accept the differences in the vb user table like:
  • vb- userid RPG- user_id
    vb- username RPG- user_name
    etc...

and second would be to either add the fields that are unique to RPG into the vb user table or create another table and alter the RPG code.

where would i find all the code for the vBulletin user table???

What do you mean? You can view the database structure using phpMyAdmin.

I was having a long look at this... it is very doable, and should not be too hard to integrate - you only need to change a few lines of code here and there...

However, phpRPG is still BETA, and has lots of bugs. It's really a pre-released multiplayer RPG game based on php and mysql, and actually looks quite bad at the moment...

Also, the bugs are bad enough that you wouldn't want to use it anyway.

Refer to this review:

http://multiplayer.com/cgi-local/review.cgi?ID=1503

I would wait until they release an alpha version (it's still labeled as pre-alpha), at least a version 1.0 (it just became 0.5 from 0.3).

However, if you REALLY want to run it on your site, I can look at integrating it... but I don't think it's worth the effort and database changes... (you would have to modify vB too so that you can show the stats on vB).

Now, if you want to modify phpRPG so that it is better, then that's different. However, it's probably easier to code your own RPG hack then.

just taking a few looks at some of the coding i don't really like it that much... i really don't see anything special about it and i certainly wouldn't intergrate this into my vb.... (just my opinion) i haven't even seen it in action... but i can see that it does have a lot of bugs already :p regards...
