Ultimate newbie question...

God I am so embarrassed to be asking this question, it's simply not possible to more of a newbie than I am. This is my very first time installing a hack.

I followed the instructions on the hack I tried to install but I am stuck at the part where it says "To call your vbMicroStats, simply place the string {getmicrostats} anywhere you want in your templates"...

I copy and pasted "{getmicrostats}" on my footer template and now my forum displays the word: "{getmicrostats}" instead of actually gettin microstats. :nervous: LOL.

Obviously I am not calling MicroStats properly, can anyone shed some light on a newbie?

Thanks in advance...

make sure you uploaded the PHP file that you edited.

Wow, you're kidding me! Do people really forget to upload the edited file? :dead: That's pretty scary. Everything's uploaded in ASCII mode and in proper folders. So, am I correct in simply copy and pasting {getmicrostats} in order to call up the hack? I assumed that I was not properly calling microstats, hmmm?

well..hmm....you never know, some people actuly forget's to upload the files....anyways, go over the codeing to make sure it's correct, and if I'm not mistaking, there's new codes to use if your using vB 2.2.6

I started over from scratch in hope that I could find a mistake, no luck. I even tried the non-template version in case I was making mistake there, still no luck. Yes, I am using 2.2.6, geez, I've been working on this all day and it's only supposed to take 5 minutes. I know it MUST be some easy process or command that I am not familiar with, I still feel there is a step to properly calling the stats that I do not know about and the hack author considers to be so common that he isn't bothering to mention it. This sucks!
:ermm:

I have the same error, it's not just you. I am using the fix too...

If you're just getting the replacement then you haven't edited the files properly. IIRC its nothing to do with anything else
